Overview

It would be a sheer transgression to call Motorhead simply a rock band. The point is that the musicians conquered different stages all over the world for 40 years in total, so that the group still remains extra-popular even nowadays posing serious competition to modern sound. There are hundreds of various rock performers, yet none of them could be possible compared to Motorhead injecting heavy metal devotees with a great surge of power. They are legends impossible to be labelled or categorized to something common. They are the synonym for hard-rock school. They are authentic, eccentric, powerful and renowned. So no wonder why Net Entertainment included the featured Motorhead slot machine into the gaming library to come up with their fabulous rock trilogy covering two more outstanding music figures – Jimi Hendrix and Guns N’ Roses. Here is everything so beloved by rock fans – great and powerful soundtrack, very unconventional gaming grid, and the spirit wilderness dwelling around the reels.

To speak honestly, this machine is completely different to usual NetEnt’s products as it is simply difficult to class Motorhead into some sort of video-slot genre. Returning to the main layout moments, players will find a high-quality graphics featuring an amazing video-intro element when the game is fully downloaded, perfect 3D animation, great colouring with dark shades, an excellent selection of diverse bonus features, top-notch gameplay course and user-friendly interface with command bar and controlling keys on the transparent backdrop. Being the third component of NetEnt rock series, Motorhead slot inherited legendary soundtrack embedded into the gameplay and strong message for all rock fans out there. To show that this slot is a result of collaboration, the developer even depicted each musician on information pages with their signatures below the pictures.

On the whole, Motorhead slot utilises an unusual gaming grid consisting of 5 reels which begin to increase in their size as you look at them from left to right, so it makes three sections of reels – 3×2, 2×4 and 1×6 respectively. The noteworthy aspect is that Motorhead is one the very few NetEnt machines having an extensive set of paylines – 76 – but it becomes quite clear why as soon as you see the way reels are displaced. The entire action takes place on the stage where signature loudspeakers, resembling a bit Marshall amps in designing, the drum set, and guitars stand on the background fusing in the maze of smoke. Well, the theme composition looks more than just catchy. Besides, a notable moment about Motorhead slot is in-game symbols represent an interesting mixture of classic fruit-slot icons and hardcore attributes like demon heads and silver horseshoes. NetEnt even paid their respects to Ian Kilmister in a dedicated symbol who has passed away a few years ago. Overall, the fabulous journey across heavy metal rivers is about to set off with this impressive slot machine.

Interesting features

There is a plenty of fascinating options when it comes to additional features included into Motorhead slot’s gameplay, so you will find classic Wilds making substitution, Scatters triggering a number of free games with extra compounds and random ingredients coming into view right when you need them the most. Let’s nail the basics with traditional symbol replacing incorporated in many traditional machines when Wilds create extended combinations. Majorly, in case there is already a string of matching symbols on the reels and Wildcards join the pattern, the latter is able to chameleon and become one more matching icon in the array. Yet Wilds cannot replace Scatters because bonus icons do not fetch any rewarding.

Going back to Scatters, they are also used in their common understanding, so that three landing pictures of the band’s logo will activate 10 free rounds provided Scatters appear anywhere on the third, fourth and fifth reel simultaneously. Unfortunately, Motorhead slot is a game where free games are unable to be re-triggered, but NetEnt empowered bonusing with a few peculiar components which are going to be discussed further. In general sense, these spins might be extremely lucrative especially when you play with the maximum stake allowed.

Apparently to add a little dose of enigma characteristic to the band, there is one extremely interesting feature called Mystery Reel which is employed full-time on the reels. Generally, every time you make a spin, whether it’s a base-game or Free Spin rounds, one of the reels will be entirely concealed by overlaying game logo that is Mystery Symbol hiding some randomly chosen icon from the paytable. It’s guaranteed that one reel is 100% going to be covered with Mystery symbols, yet there can be more overlaid reels. As soon as a spin ends The Mystery Reels reveal their cards – all icons transform into one random similar symbol. So this is a stacked reel comprised of some regular symbols, but they are announced when the reels come to a stop.

The last thing coming in a supplementary fashion is Bomber Feature which has a totally random basis meaning there are no symbols or games when the feature is activated. During regular spinning, casino players might notice that the reels are spinning a bit longer and then all of a sudden, the screen begins to tremble. Technically, the feature is triggered in the code before you even click on “SPIN” button, and you can take advantage of it only while playing the main game. The machine creates a few groups of Mystery symbols scattered around the reels – these are ‘bombs’ – and gamblers are given 10 or more overlaying icons in total. When the layout is formed, the rest of free space continues to whirl to choose a matching icon with what is hidden behind Mystery pics. As soon as everything is chosen, the Mysteries are uncovered, and you can definitely fetch good prize for the result combination of symbols.

Reel Strips

Motorhead slot provides a little unconventional layout if compared to other products from NetEnt line-up because there are 76 paylines and quite a specific grid with irregular reel position. If ever happen to come across Dazzle Me machine from the same developer, so you should be familiar with the gaming set consisting of ascending reels. Basically, those who shifted from classic gameplay style to this offbeat arrangement are always bewildered by the grid and its properties. Well, there’s a thing you should know – no difference exists. The rules applied remain the same, only note than even despite the fact of a bit number of reels they cannot be customise which makes your wager include betting on the whole reel set. Also, bear in mind that uncommon grid and paylines number always means that a machine has high variance as in progressive jackpot games where you can bet and bet and bet but win nothing. So does Motorhead slot.

Bonus features

Motorhead slot by NetEnt, in general terms, offers two specialty additional features and classic Free Spins activated by dedicated symbols a.k.a. Scatters. Speaking of Mystery Reels, it can be regarded from different perspectives because the feature behaves in a versatile manner and can be applied not only during regular spinning rounds, but also when you are on the bonus free spins. Honestly, the bonusing map seems primitive in organisation, yet there are some tricky conditions about them. So, let’s have a brief review of bonuses.

Bomber & Mystery random features

Free Spins by ScattersBoth elements are applied separately. When you are on spins in a free-game mode or just playing the base rounds every spin is featured by The Mystery Reel which can appear anywhere to overlay the whole reel with a group of stacked symbols revealed shortly after the grid stops rolling. There could be more than one Mystery Reel, yet at least one would always pop up. The machine chooses a random symbol from the regular paytable and then all Mysteries transform into it. The Bomber Feature cannot have any Mystery Reels and it’s a random feature appearing solely during the base game. You are usually given a stack of ‘bomb’ to occupy the gaming frame and the rest of span area is a place for other symbols to land chosen randomly as well. The bombs generate some more symbols, so when it all is over, there will be lots of matching combinations in the result of exploded bombs and other symbols.

Rules and featuresAgain, during the base rounds, Motorhead slots game might diffuse three Scatter symbols on the reels 3, 4 and 5, so that players will receive some more rounds only played for free. When the number appears, 10 Free Rounds are started. Note that there’s no re-triggering or additional multipliers for winning combinations, however, you are still offered a bunch of Mystery Reels paired up with Wildcards appearing on them. The rounds are played using the same bet level and coin value for the last spin triggered the bonus. Note that Wild symbol will land on the Mystery Reels only.

Motorhead slots game doesn’t have twisted rules as it might appear firstly because of very unusual appearance. You have to deal with the grid consisting of five various in size reels and 76 fixed paylines. Wagering includes each line and the stakes range from 0.20 to 200 credits converted in a currency for your region. When you place a bet, your mission is to catch profitable combination of regular symbols prescribed in the paytable. There are two options to set your bet – coin value and bet level. There are 10 different bet levels and its value is used as a multiplier for the paytable values.

During your course of spinning, you may take advantage of the following list of extra features: Bomber Spin randomly activated before a regular spin, Wildcards replacing for all conventional paid symbols, Scatters bringing 10 Free Spins and the gem of Motorhead slots The Mystery Reel – customary feature applied every round in every mode all the way down to bonusing. The paytable includes just 7 symbols where some of them are traditional fruit-style icons. Also, don’t forget about “ROCK MODE” which starts some of the most well-known songs by Motorhead (you can find the full list in the information section).

PAYTABLE
Symbol 2 3 4 5
Lemmy 1 8 30 150
Star None 5 15 50
Silver Bell None 3 10 30
Lucky Seven None 3 10 30
Horseshoe None 2 5 15
Cherries None 2 5 12
Green Clover None 2 5 12

Conclusion

If you can tame high-volatility slots and your bankroll bursts with cash options, then welcome to Motorhead machine which can really help you fetch some real money due to diverse additional features and extensive payline incorporation. Unfortunately, players on the budgets wouldn’t feel as comfortable as high-rollers because here you have to bet a lot and for a long time before the machine gives you something valuable. But be sure, when it does your account will ring with coins. Overall, the slot is simply great and beautifully-made. We have everything a gambler needs – massive winning potential, incredibly interesting gameplay and superb additional features with the unique Mystery Reel element. So, go and find casinos where you can play Motorhead slot and discover is all yourself.

Pros: Motörhead is a 5 reel, 76 payline slot from Net Entertainment. The game is based on the rock and roll band which has achieved legendary status. You can join Ian Fraser better known as Lemmy and the boys in the 3rd instalment of the Netent Rock Series releases. First guns and rose, then the famous Jimi Hendrix and now the famous Motörhead.

This slot is exactly the same setup type of reels and style as the expensive dazzle me slot. Spinning the reels on stage like you attending a reel live show with the rock band look out for the ace of spades which act as wild.

This slot also has a mystery reel feature. On every spin during base game or free spins there will be a minimum of 1 mystery reel. The mystery symbol will appear stacked and your hope is that they will match the symbols that land on the reels during your normal spin. At time the mystery reels will clone and you can get linked reels, similar to Twin Spin for bigger and better wins. You most definitely want the reels to be linked from reels 1 – 2 and most probably more for bigger wins. The best part is when the mystery reels reveal ace of spades.

Then there is the bomber feature which is randomly triggered in the base game before a spin takes place. A number of bombs occur on the reels creating a minimum of 10 overlay mystery symbols. Up to 5 bombs will appear with up to 15 overlay mystery symbols up for grabs as each bomb carries a cluster of mystery symbols. The reels then spin with the mystery overlay symbols in place with a symbol randomly chosen as in the Mystery Reel feature

Landing 3 scatter symbols on reels 3, 4 and 5 starts the free spins feature. Now I must be honest this is the most difficult part of the game. As it takes forever to trigger this feature. You take 500 spins and only trigger free spins once or twice if you lucky. Sometimes not at all. 10 free spins are awarded and the mystery feature is on every spin with linked reels. During those linked reels with mystery symbols do you get the wild symbols spinning in stacked form as well and that could generate big wins.

I never had huge wins, just once x200 my bet during free spins feature. But any big win normally comes to x40 my bet max no matter if the symbol are 7's or whatever the case. So the payout are low but this game is good for wagering.
Cons: It didn't take me long to decide that this was almost certainly the weakest of the trio in terms of payout potentials. I managed a near full screen of the same four leaf clover symbols quite early on and it didn't even return 50x my stake, which just seemed incredible to me. The game has 76 paylines so it was immediately clear that even a five of a kind of this symbol couldn't pay very much and I was pretty disgusted to see on the paytable it infact pays out just 12 coins, so if I had managed the whole screen I *still* wouldn't have got 50x my bet! Wow, that really sucks. The Lemmy and Star symbols do have better payouts attached, but of course I never managed a decent number of those onscreen at once despite playing at least 3500 spins yesterday.

The game has a "mystery reel" feature which hides the symbols on at least one reel on every spin, sometimes as many as four reels, but it really doesn't mean anything and is basically pointless - the whole screen begins to shake when four reels are covered by the mystery symbols, but most of the time when they do reveal none of them will match with the first reel and the whole show will have been for nothing as the spin still returns a big fat zero.

The free spins have the same mystery reel feature but also appears to add additional wilds to the reels and I found when the mystery reels revealed in free spins mode it was much more common that the symbol shown would be one that was useful to you, but I'm not sure if I was just lucky or if the free spins mode actually does work differently as it's not explained on the paytable.

So not much in the way of decent wins unless your lucky enough to get a whole lot of Lemmy symbols on screen, scatters appear only on reels 3-5 and it seems extremely hard to trigger the free spins, and most of the features on offer such as the Rock Mode and Mystery Reel add absolutely nothing to the game. This isn't a complete dud, but it's nowhere near as enjoyable as Guns'n'Roses and I think NetEnt could have done much better with this license, making Motorhead a real letdown overall.

Pros: The last of the Rock Trilogy games, Motorhead, was finally released after much hype and waiting, but not for me. I wasn't even waiting for Motorhead to make an appearance, because I was never a fan of the band. Honestly speaking, neither were Guns N Roses and Jimi Hendrix, and I wasn't waiting for them either when they made their appearances.

The first thing that put me off this new game was the format of the game play area. It comes with 5 reels and with 3, 4 and 5 rows. Not only that, it has a fixed 76 paylines, which I think is way insufficient to fully cater for a 5-reels 5-rows game. This should have been in a 320 ways-to-win format, or something close to that, so that all the possible paylines are taken into account. With only 76 paylines, only a small portion is covered, which would certainly result in very low payouts.

Looking at the paytable proved it all. The Ace of Spade is the Wild symbol, a dumb Wild symbol that doesn't pay for itself nor double any wins with it. It only substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol, and comes stacked in both the base and Free Spins game. Without any value or doubling of wins, this Wild symbol is almost useless. The Scatter symbol is also another dumb symbol, without any payouts for itself, and only triggering the Free Spins game with 3 Scatters, each appearing only on reels 3, 4 and 5. The Free Spins game itself has only 10 free spins without any multiplier. What the argh! The other symbols in the game pay from 150x to 12x the line bet. How low can any paytable get? The dumb Wilds, the dumb Scatters, and the blardy low values for all the other symbols, makes this Motorhead game one of the lowest paying game there is, currently.
Cons: What makes the game interesting are the 2 special features. The Mystery Reels, whereby on every spin in the base game and Free Spins game, 1 or more reels are turned into Mystery Reels, with the stacked symbols transforming into any other symbol except for the Scatter symbol. The Bomber Feature, randomly activated in the base game only, introduces random clusters of mystery symbols onto the reels, which then transform into any other regular symbol. If you think these 2 feature games can pay good wins, you'd be very disappointed, because most of the time, the transformed symbols do not provide any good wins, except on very rare occasions. Even so, you'd be very disappointed with the very low payouts, which don't fit in with what you see on the screen. Most payouts were, and are, beyond expectations, way below expectations!

I've played this game on numerous occasions in the fun mode, for thousands of spins, just to get to know the game better, and my real money plays on it proved everything that I had expected from the game. Totally disappointing, with wins no bigger than 51x the bet amount, both in the fun mode and in the real money mode. Obviously, NetEnt has short-changed us players with this final trilogy game!

Pros: Motorhead, the final piece of the third puzzle to complete the 3 rock bands. NetEnt finally has them, Guns N Roses, Jimmy Hendrix and now Motorhead. A dark gloomy concert of 76 lines. A choice of a silent mode in which Lemmy is preparing his performance or rock mode during which the concert is in progress! Out of all the 3 rock band slots around, Motorhead has got to be my least favorite because it pretty much does not deliver as opposed to Guns N Roses and Jimmy Hendrix! I do however can honor the mystery reels and the bomber feature going at it from time to time to release premium symbols or the ace of spades wild stacks on good rewards or to say the least......a empty tease as if a magician finally relieved his secret magic act...all smoke, no fire!

The bomber feature is a random encounter that is similar to the mystery reels but puts these mystery symbols in clusters rather than stacks on random positions of the slot.....sirens can be heard...then stops the reels for a potential win, it usually does pay and I have not seen a bomber feature that does not pay yet! Kinda sucks it this feature appeared to give nothing!

As I only heard of what can be given in free spins I will still take the time to trigger the free spins. I heard that mystery stacks and wilds riddle the free spins yet triggering the feature alone is hard enough! It makes it nearly impossible for me to hit it on reels 3, 4 and 5! For something this difficult, it must be worth it!!!! Mystery reels, clustering bomber feature, and free spins in which I still have much work to trigger them, these random contributions to Motorhead have given me a 6 out of 10 rating! Heck, Jimmy Hendrix gave me a better payout ratio!
Cons: "Lemmy" put it this way, the return to player percentage is on about 96% but I can tell just playing Motorhead, it gives out much less!!! Some of the features were alright but a few that I hated were for the random mystery reels! On any spin, some of the reels fired up to turn into these yellow boar symbol stacks and as each reel gets closer to filling up entirely for these, the slot starts to shake like an earthquake has gone mad and the reels stop....now it is not for the mystery stacks, but for symbols already on the slot like clovers or horseshoes that land instead of the mystery stacks. I hated it when trickery was afoot because I thought that a big win was coming but instead it was either a small win or simply a broken hit! Wilds and scatters are nearly invisible!
