Big Kahuna is another old game that can be found in the Microgaming casinos. The game has 5 reels and 9 pay-lines. I really like the design of the older Microgaming slot games. So in this game, I like the design and that’s all.
For the things that I do not like here I will not write a lot, but I will say for example that the min bet with which you can play here is 0.45 euros. Then, the game is pretty boring. The reason why I say that the game is pretty boring is that do not offers any exciting feature. I’ll list and briefly describe 3 features that you have in this game.
Two of the three features are just different variations of pick up bonus. Those are the Volcano and Mask bonus. I think the game would be a lot more interesting if let’s say there is a free spins bonus. Besides these two bonuses there is also the scatter feature. Two scatter symbols will pay 3 x bet while 5 scatter symbols pay 200 x total bet. Quite often it happens to receive 2 scatter symbols but to 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols is very difficult to come by. Also I'll say that here the wild symbol changes only symbols with fruits.
My experience with this game is not great, but the last time in Go Wild Casino I stayed longer than half an hour on this game. The initial idea was to make here a maximum of up to 10 spins. But in those 10 spins I was in plus more than 30 euros and that playing with a minimum bet of 0.45 EUR per spin. After these 10 spins I had set up on 25 automatic spins. I was in plus again. I continued to play as that, as I have already said, for more than half an hour and every time when the 25 automatic spins were completed I would set up a new 25 automatic spins. At one point I was in a plus for more than 100 euros in this game, but I finished with a plus of around 30 euros.
Big Kahuna is for my taste a pretty boring game and I give her the lowest passing grade, which would be a 6 out of 10 possible stars.
Big Kahuna is a Hawaiian themed mini-slot and I would imagine some great atmosphere, coctails, Hawaiian beauties with flower garland in their neck wearing hula skirts and some seductive dance moves but the game instead provide only volcanos, lizards, tribe relics and badges, monkeys and flowers. What a massive disappointment! Seriously, the slot has got a jungle environment thanks to the wild life illustration image in the background but looking at the used symbols I really don’t know it’s supposed to be an animal, a fruit or some kind of adventurous game. We get a little bit of everything but in my opinion it would have been better if the creators would have choose one of them and made the game a little bit more specific because the play emblems simple can’t make a comprehensive unit and that’s not good for the overall pictorial effects as well as the not too high quality graphics and illustration technique. Normally, I’m not a fan of pure white background colour of the reel area but I think here the developer just wanted to compensate the otherwise very colourful screen and with lot of hot, powerful colours in use after all at this game it wasn’t a bad idea. So I can’t say I love here the interface and I definitely would have done many things differently to create a real effective visual experience to the customers.
The slot is a 9-payline game and considering this the 8000 coins main prize is really respectable but this award giving Wild symbol is not too generous while it fulfills its secondary function as when it’s substituting it doesn’t multiply the wins and only works for the fruit winning combinations but not for the two best paying symbols. The Monkey, scatter figure also owns good ability to pay us well and we can win by it 200 times of total bet. Interestingly, Scatter doesn’t trigger any feature and the slot uses two other special symbols to trigger the bonuses.
Mask Bonus starts when at least 3 Mask icons landed on an active payline then we’re carried over to a secondary screen where we have to pick masks out of 10 possibilities until the ‘Collect’ label is revealed. 3 Masks hide this unwanted option while all the other masks unfold instant cash prizes. Though I play with the game mainly $0.90 total bet and the maximum amount I won here was no more than $30 but this side game can reward up to 2500 coins. The other side game is Volcano Bonus which has same triggering method as the mentioned one but with Volcano symbols and here we have to choose from fruits to win cash prizes. This is not so good extra and I’m not really happy when it’s activated because most of the times the won amount here is not high.
As you can see the game doesn’t have free spin feature but from a 9-line slot I don’t necessarily expect it to do that. The
winning probability is not so bad at this game but it’s true the bigger wins are not too realistic even if on paper the payout quality of the game is very good. Perhaps I just had bad luck with it every time I played here but I never won any noticeable amount. I have a little issue with the game’s entertaining ability too and I’d lie if I say that my sessions at Big Kahuna were filled with lot of joy, excitement or I very enjoyed playing with the game and this observation is independent of my financial success (unsuccess) at this product. Overall, I don’t think this slot is the best made Microgaming and from the theme and its illustration through game settings and bonuses there would be lot things that could be improved and even if the potential is there at least on papers but making me believe that I actually can be won any of big prizes is another story so for me this game is just one of the many ordinary products on the market.
I first lowered everything including the coin size because this slot appears to be set on it's maximum value sometimes. Don't you just hate it when video slots are like that? If I accidentally click on "Spin" or "Max bet" then there is a good chance I'll lose my bet for that small mistake. Sometimes mistakes can become beneficial on accident.
There are two different bonuses, one that is of the Volcano Bonus during which you have to pick a fruit to offer to the volcano. Kind of like a sacrifice. You choose from five fruits and they will grant credits, for better as in big or for worse as in small. The other bonus which I'm more into is the Mask Bonus. Lining up those mask symbols on a payline which I'm sure can be very annoying (for both anyways) but is far better than in comparison to the volcano bonus. This bonus let's me pick from Masks until I find a "collect" symbol ending my bonus. I greatly appreciate the many values hiding in these masks and would prefer most players to bet on a scale of 2 to 4 coins. Consolation prizes are left behind after the "collect" sign. In terms of Max betting I would advise that it is up to you. If hitting the bonuses more often and looting gargantuan wins is in your cards then what is stopping you from earning more? Greed can sometimes be a total payoff!
For those of you who like to make low risks, I would suggest playing this video slot on $0.45 bets. Remember to lower everything first before playing! Did I forget to mention that only two scattered monkeys pay 3x your bet while 3 monkeys earns 10x?
I find this Tiki slot to be awesome and should stand at a 8.5 out of 10!
